Elmer is an oversized, colorful and textured cardigan. It's an alternating of knit and purl squares. Its colorful square patterned body reminds of the elephant Elmer from fairy tales.
Composition -
The cardigan is knitted from bottom to top. The body is knitted back and forth on circular needles in one part till the armholes. Then it's divided into 3 parts (2 front and 1 back) and finally 4 parts when reaching the collar. The front and back stitches of shoulders are bound off together thanks to a 3rd needle on the wrong side. Sleeves are knitted in the round from the armholes.

10cm x 10 cm: 16st x 20 rows with 6mm needles
Yarn -
Yarn used is Alpaca Blaze (25g = 225m; Needle 4-5mm; 40% Acrylic, 30% Alpaca, 30% Polyamide) from Hobbii but you can knit it with other similar yarn
The cardigan is knitted with triple thread and 4 colors (A, B, C, D) are needed for the square patterned body. Color A is also used for the sleeves and B, C, D for egdes.
- Color A (squares + sleeves): 5 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 balls or 1000 - 1100 -1300 -1400 - 1600m
- Color B, C and D : 3 - 3 - 3 - 4 - 4 balls or 500 - 600 - 650 - 750 - 800m
