At Knit-sis , we knit with our hearts, and sometimes… with three balls of yarn at the same time!
We are Lenny and Louise , two sisters who learned the secrets of knitting from their grandmother and aunt. Today, we share this know-how with you through clear, modern, and warm patterns.

Intarsia Jacquard is the art of blending colors to tell a story stitch by stitch. Whether you're a motivated beginner or an experienced knitter, our patterns will guide you to create pieces worthy of the catwalk... or the cozy sofa.

Discover Intarsia and Jacquard: two magical knitting techniques

What is Intarsia?

Intarsia is a technique that allows you to create large, colorful patterns without overlapping the threads behind the work. Each colored area has its own ball or bobbin, resulting in a light, clean, and perfectly flat finish.

What is Jacquard?

Jacquard involves crossing the threads behind the work to alternate colors, creating a thicker, warmer fabric. Ideal for repeating, Nordic, or graphic patterns.

The key differences

▪️Intarsia → isolated patterns, perfect for precise shapes or illustrations
▪️Jacquard → repeated patterns, ideal for the “Norwegian sweater” effect
▪️The two can be combined for a unique and creative style

How to Knit in Intarsia Jacquard: A Quick Guide

        1. Prepare your equipment

        ▪️Needles suitable for your yarn

▪️Several balls or spools for each color

        ▪️Printed or tablet pattern grid

        2. Read and follow a grid

The squares represent the stitches, the colors indicate the ball to use. The chart is always read from right to left on the right side, and from left to right on the wrong side.

        3. Manage color changes

▪️Intarsia → cross the threads at each change to avoid holes

▪️Jacquard → maintain even tension to avoid warping

        Bonus: tips for impeccable knitting

▪️Thread tension : neither too loose nor too tight

▪️Avoid gaps : cross the threads at each color transition

▪️Weave in the ends : use a wool needle for an invisible finish
