Snoods: knitting pattern & complete guide for beginners and enthusiasts 🧶

Knit Sis

We love snoods. Why? Because they're the no-hassle knitting project that gives great results... fast! 😍
No need to worry about sizes, no complicated sewing, and above all: it's the cozy accessory that makes you want to get your needles out again as soon as the temperatures drop.

When we were little, our grandmother always knitted us a "magic" snood: soft, warm, and one that went with everything. Today, we've kept that tradition alive... and added our Knit-sis touch: cheerful colors, easy stitches, and instant gratification.

(and why you need more than one!)

▪️ Ultra fast : even a textured snood can be done in a few evenings.

▪️ Beginner friendly : ideal for learning to knit in the round or trying out new stitches.

▪️ Versatile look : sporty, chic, minimalist or fun, it adapts to all styles.

▪️ Perfect gift : a quick project that's sure to please 🎁.

💡 Tip: For a super soft snood, try the same yarns as for our Free Doudou Sweater – cocoon effect guaranteed!

The different models of knitted snoods

1. The basic garter stitch snood

The classic: right side up, straight, and sewn in the round.

▪️ Ideal for beginners

▪️ Perfect with a thick yarn for a cozy look.

2. The round snood (without sewing)

Knitted on circular needles, it is regular and comfortable.

▪️ Knit-sis tip : add a ribbed edge to keep it in place.

3. The textured or openwork snood

Fancy stitches, cables or lace for a unique style.
📌 Inspiration: the openwork stitch of our Marguerite vest would make an ultra feminine snood.

4. The oversized snood

Large, loose and enveloping, for very cold days.

▪️ Thick yarn (approximately 100 to 150 g)

▪️ Wool needle

Instructions

1️⃣ Cast on 30 stitches.

3️⃣ Join the two ends with an invisible seam.

4️⃣ Bring in the ends, block lightly… and wear!

Knit-sis tips for a successful snood

▪️ Test your sample : a snood that is too tight will not be comfortable.

▪️ Mix yarns : mohair + merino = softness + volume.

▪️ Play with height : a high snood is worn folded, a short snood stays close to the neck.
